Day 1: Arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport
Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our Safari Expert and transferred to your lodge in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s bustling commercial hub. You will have ample time to check in, freshen up, and enjoy a delicious dinner before settling in for a restful overnight stay.
Dar es Salaam, known for its vibrant atmosphere, sets the perfect stage for your upcoming adventure. Rest up and prepare for an exciting safari experience with Sky Wanders Safaris on the following day.
Day 2: Drive to Mikumi National Park
Your adventure begins today with a hearty breakfast at your hotel, followed by a scenic drive to Mikumi National Park, one of Tanzania’s largest and most accessible wildlife destinations. As you travel through local villages, you’ll have opportunities for exploration and cultural discovery.
Mikumi offers excellent wildlife viewing, including the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—and features well-designed picnic areas for a relaxing lunch amidst nature. After a thrilling game drive, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, setting the stage for more exciting adventures in Southern Tanzania.
Day 3: Drive to Ruaha National Park
Embark on an unforgettable journey through Tanzania’s Southern Circuit with Sky Wanders Safaris. After a delicious breakfast, you’ll begin a scenic 5-hour drive to Ruaha National Park, named after the majestic Ruaha River that flows through its southeastern region. Along the way, enjoy the chance to spot wildlife and capture stunning photos, as the park is home to an impressive variety of animals and bird species.
Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch followed by a relaxing break before setting off for an afternoon game drive, where you’re likely to encounter large herds of elephants and other fascinating wildlife. After a rewarding day, you’ll head to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Full Day Game drive Ruaha National Park
Today, get ready for a full-day game drive in Ruaha National Park, one of Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations. After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on a thrilling safari, where you’ll have the chance to spot over 500 bird species, including migratory birds, as well as predators like lion prides and endangered wild dogs.
Elephants, rare antelope species such as greater kudu, lesser kudu, roan, and stable antelope, and the park’s pristine wilderness make Ruaha a unique experience. After a packed lunch and short break, you’ll continue your afternoon game drive before heading back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Fly to Nyerere National Park
Today, prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you fly to Nyerere National Park, the largest park in Tanzania. After a delicious breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your flight, where you’ll meet our safari representative upon arrival and head to your camp for a hot lunch.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on the Rufiji River, offering stunning views of wildlife as they gather by the water to drink, followed by a relaxing sundowner. After an incredible day, you’ll return to the camp for a delicious dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6 & 7: Nyerere National Park
Spend two days immersing yourself in the wilderness of Nyerere National Park, one of Tanzania’s most remote yet captivating reserves. This park is renowned for its large herds of elephants and hippos, but also hosts a variety of wildlife including antelopes, eland, greater kudus, waterbucks, spotted hyenas, and lions.
With over 500 bird species, Nyerere is a birdwatcher’s paradise, offering incredible opportunities for birding safaris. Whether you’re a nature lover or a wildlife enthusiast, this park provides a unique and tranquil safari experience.
Day 8: Drive Back to Dar es Salaam/ Depart
On the final day of your Tanzania safari, you may choose to extend your adventure with a relaxing beach holiday in Zanzibar Island. After breakfast, you will drive back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the afternoon, perfect for a leisurely lunch and relaxation. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be escorted to the airport for your return journey.
